Zombies, where they see similarities in the way that the game is played, but also claim that gardenscapes: new acres takes things up a notch! The concept of the game is quite simple: instead of planting seeds and flowers, players must match different objects and items in order to plant and harvest their crops. When making a match, one must use the keyboard arrow keys and the space bar to plant and remove shrubs, vegetables, and other objects. It is possible to extend the gameplay by adding more levels, unlocking new flowers and objects, or unlocking different costumes for the players. However, as the game progresses, one’s workload increases as they need to focus more on making matches, as well as harvesting trees, digging trenches and filling sandbags with water. Thus, one quickly gets tired and the game starts to lose its appeal after a while.

Gardenscapes: New Acres features a few different elements that differentiate it from the Plants Vs. Zombies games. It takes about two minutes and thirty seconds to complete all the levels in the game.

The match-3 and power-ups are not very difficult, but it does take a bit of trial and error to master the usage of them. In the beginning, you should know how to use all of the power-ups and match-ups to make your garden grow faster. The match-3 gems do not cost any coins, but you must collect them using flowers or other objects. You can only use one power-up per round, so you should learn to memorize which ones you need to use for the round you are playing.

Some of the power-ups, such as the mini-games, are not very challenging at all. Match-3 is the only one that is very challenging, requiring quick thinking and intuitive movements.
